Cellulose is the most abundant polysaccharide on the Earth.Due to the excellent mechanical properties of crystalline cellulose, the utilisation of cellulose as composite reinforcement has received a lot of attention from researchers in different fields in recent years.2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) radical mediated oxidation provides an effective technique for isolation of nano-sized cellulose fibres.Additional chemical modification can also potentially improve dispersion of fibres in a polymer matrix, thus improving composite properties.The aim of the study was to evaluate the compatibility of nano-sized cellulose fibres obtained by TEMPO oxidation, with different matrices, as well as its reinforcement capabilities.
