Recently a new loading technique using pulsed magnetic pressure for quasi-isentropic(ramp, shockless) compression and high speed flyer plate launching experiments (ICE) becomes available and attractive to equation of state (EOS) and impact dynamic studies.A peak pressure above 300GPa of ramp wave in W and Ta samples and a velocity 43 km/s of aluminum flyers have been achieved in the experiments conducted on the Z/ZR machine at Sandia National Laboratories, USA.Important results related ICE and pulsed power drivers (pulsers) are reviewed where the progress in compact pulsers such as GEPI, VELOCE and CEPAGE is marked and impressive.
