Maternal high-fat(HF)diet throughout gestation and lactation increases the risk of developing metabolic diseases in the offspring.In this study,we use a maternal HF diet rat model to determine the metabolic changes in dams and offspring.We found that dams fed with HF diet(48%fat)during gestation and lactation had greater adiposity,increased plasma and milk leptin levels on postnatal day(PND)21.
