Hierarchical self-assembly has been widely explored by nature for constructing well-organized architectures such as DNA and proteins with the desired functions. During the past few decades, inspired by the charming natural process of hierarchical self-assembly, a great number of artificial supramolecular structures and functional materials have been successfully developed and well investigated, thus promoting the investigation on hierarchical self-assembly into a higher level.
