Peripheral vascular disease is one of the main causes of intermittent claudication, among which intermittent claudication caused by external iliac arterial intramural hematoma is rare reported. We described the case of a 50-year-old man who had a history of right thigh stroke by his elbow joint, one month ago when he was playing badminton. The initial symptoms were paroxysmal pain and weakness of right lower limb, then presented with intermittent claudication. After image examinations of vessels of lower limb by ultrasound, computed tomographic angiography and magnetic resonance angiography, the diagnosis of right external iliac arterial intramural hematoma was made, then the patient was discharged without any drugs.About 2 months later, images showed the area of hematoma was significantly smaller than the original. Now we discussed the diagnosis of this case and reviewed the medical literature that pertained to intramural hematoma and intermittent claudication.
