The decomposition of HI plays an important role in the Iodine-Sulfur thermochemical cycle (IS cycle) because it is the key reaction of hydrogen evolution [1].The reaction rate of HI decomposition is very low. Therefore some catalysts have to be used to catalyze this reaction [2,3].In this paper, the research and development on catalysts for HI decomposition at INET was reviewed.
