As a kind of valuable compound,carotenoids have numerous applications,such as food colorants,nutrient supplements,cosmetic and pharmaceutical.Recently,there has been great interest in producing beta-carotene in engineered organism from renewable sources,instead of through the traditional chemical synthesis.
