Bioleaching of sulfide minerals continues to attract attention globally due to its unparalleled advantages, such as low capital investment, environment friendly, mild reaction, low energy consumption and simple process.The technology has been widely employed to extract gold, copper,cobalt, nickel, zinc, uranium, etc..However, the commercial application of bioleaching to extract copper from chalcopyrite is still on the verge due to slow kinetics and poor dissolution (Brierley and Brierley, 2013; Vera et al., 2013).
