OBJECTIVE: Endothelium-dependent contraction (EDC) is closely related to the severity of hypertension. Cyclooxygenase (COX) -mediated arachidonic acid-derived prostaglandin and reactive oxygen species (ROS) are the major causes of EDC production. Mitochondria Uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) reduces the production of mitochondrial ROS and improves oxidative stress. We earlier
