The Number of very elderly patients who underwent cardiac surgery was increased in Japan because average length of life was prolonged and we became the protracted-life society.We evaluated the outcome of heart valve surgery in octogenarian and older patients.A retrospective review was performed of all patients undergone cardiac surgery in our institute and patients were identified from a prospectively collected of all in our cardiac surgery unit.From April 2005 to March 2010, 563 consecutive patients underwent cardiac surgery included thoracic great vessel surgery.
