  In membrane separation,hydrophobic microporous membranes play a key role in gas-fiquid seperation processes such as membrane distillation,membrane absorption,and so on.However,additional mass transfer resistance due to pores filled by the liquid phase can represent a drawback in the processes [1].Therefore,to maintain the membrane pore completely filled by the gas phase (non-wetted) only,or in other words,to improve the hydrophobicity of the membrane surface is expected in these processes.Conventionally,superhydrophobic surfaces are fabricated by combining appropriate surface roughness with low-surface-energy materials [2].Poly (vinilydene fluoride)(PVDF)is a commercially available fluoropolymer with low surface energy and good physical,chemical and mechanical properties [3].But present commercial PVDF membrane (water contact angle is about 85°) cant satisfy the requirements in contactor processes.In this paper,a high hydrophobic PVDF microporous membrane with high volumetric mass transfer was fabricated by an easy method without modification with special low surface energy materials.
