The composites of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid (3HNA) were prepared by in situ polymerization. The effect of polar solvent N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) on the fluorescent properties of the composites was investigated by fluorescence spectrum. The results indicate that the composites exhibits dual emissions, which are corresponding to the normal or large Stokes-shifted fluorescence of 3HNA and the excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT),respectively. The intensity of Stokes-shifted emission changes regularly with the concentration of 3HNA-doped PMMA in DMAc.
