  I will discuss how spinodal decomposition is affected when the chemical potential is made to vary in space and time.As I will show,this provides a new mechanism that can lead to long-lived self-organized non-equilibrium states whose structure is regular and controllable,unlike that observed in standard spinodal decomposition.
