Rare-earth ortho-niobates, LnNbO4 (Ln =La-Lu; Y) have a similar structure, which belongs to monoclinically distorted fergusonite (M-phase) at low temperature and to scheelite (T-phase) at high-temperature.They are distinguished by the combination of promising luminescent, chemical and mechanical properties.
