The research and development of new separation media for liquid chromatography (LC) is very important to the separation of biomacromolecules, especially for the separation and analysis of the complex samples in proteomics.In general, chromatographic stationary phases designed for protein separation are dominated by only single retention mode, such as RPLC, IEC and HIC and AFC, ect.The ligands of mixed-mode stationary phase has more than two functional groups, however mixed-mode chromatography (MMC) is also used to separate protein only with single retention mode.
