Wood is widely used in construction,transportation and other industrial sectors as well as human life.In wood and wood products,there are some inherent shortcomings and deficiencies,such as perishable,flammable,dimensional instability,etc.,which brought many difficult issues in the fabrication and utilization.Therefore,it is necessary to improve properties of wood and wood products by suitable methods.The main purpose of the study is to improve properties of wood fibers by sol-gel technology.With TEOS and phosphoric acid,boric acid as raw material,the wood fibers were modified by sol-gel technology,and were characterized by SEM,TG.The results show that the property of flame resistance of modified wood fibers had been greatly improved.
