Background:The original version of the Health Education Impact Questionnaire (heiQ) consisted of 43 items describing 8 subscales developed as a comprehensive evaluation tool to measure the impact of self-management education programs in Australia. The evaluation of participants responses before and after they attended an education intervention was designed to promote understanding of changes at the group and individual levels. We recognized the potential for using the heiQ to evaluate continuous health consultation in Japan. In a previous study, we translated and adapted the heiQ to the Japanese culture (i.e.heiQJ), evaluating the reliability and criterion validity for the general population.
