我国湘南地区棋梓桥组和佘田桥组地层广泛发育,是十分重要的含矿层位或赋矿围岩,影响且控制着大量金属矿产资源的产出与分布。柿竹园矿集区棋梓桥组和佘田桥组地层是该区形成矽卡岩的重要原岩,也是钨锡钼铋多金属矿床的主要围岩,不仅在空间上与金属矿产关系甚密,同时也与矿床的成因机制、成矿模式及其成矿机理等相关密切,尤其是泥盆系地层的地球化学特征及其产状与空间展布,在很大程度上决定了钨锡钼铋多金属矿产资源的储量以及深部矿床(体)的空间形态,是开展深部地质找矿的重要线索
