Some important industry reactions can be catalyzed efficiently by carbon nanotubes with modified functionality [1].The doping of nitrogen into a graphitic structure introduces basic properties to carbon nanotubes and gives rise to catalytic reactivity [2].Electron-donating nitrogen atoms at the exposed defects can affect the adsorption of reactive intermediates and thus improve catalytic reactions [3].However, a clear understanding of the reaction mechanism requires a well-established methodology to determine and quantify each surface functional group.
