Nanocomposite concept is now understood to be very promising to significantly improve mechanical and thermal properties of structural ceramics even at high temperatures.And the concentrated research on nanocomposites gave us new strategy to develop the unique materials with multi functionality.Thus, many attempts were made to develop the multifunctional ceramic materials, and various kinds of new multifunctional ceramic materials over 100 were successfully developed in Osaka University and Nagaoka University of Technology, which showed the improved strength and toughness together with new functions such as machinability like metals, electrical conductivity and stress & fracture sensing function and so on.And some of them were already industrialized in last 5 years.
