Background The main mechanism of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is coronary plaque rupture and secondary thrombosis.There are many factors involved in plaque rupture,such as inflammation,blood rheology,vascular wall stress,vasoconstriction,plaque stability.Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in coronary atherosclerotic plaques,especially in unstable plaque activity was significantly increased,is the main reason leading to clinical coronary events.
