High efficiency performance[1,2] and color rendering index (CRI)[3-7] are two main requirements for white organic light-emitting diode (WOLED) which can be applied in high-quality lighting sources. We report successful fabrication of efficient and high CRI phosphorescent WOLED by employing ultra-thin emitting layer architecture[8] and developing multi-peak electroluminescence spectra[9].By fine-tuning the thicknesses of emitting layers and space layer,we have obtained WOLED with a high CRI of 80 and high luminance efficiency (LE) of 29.2 cd/A which only rolls off to 22.8 cd/A at 1000 cd/m2.For multi-peak WOLED,CRI above 85 and a maximum luminance efficiency of 27.3 cd/A are realized with three peaks. And four-peak WOLED yields color-temperature tunable white emission in the luminance range of 100 cd/m2 to 5000 cd/m2,demonstrates a sunlight-like spectrum with a CRI of 89 at 5000 cd/m2.Utilizing ultra-thin emitting layer is a promising technique to achieve high performance WOLED and the wide color-temperature span of four-peak WOLED could meet the requirement for lighting in dwellings.
