  Nanofluids (NFs), the suspensions of nanoparticles (NPs) in liquid media, have been considered as an attractive candidate for cooling processes in various applications, including microfluidic systems.Compared to the base liquid with no nanoparticles, a NF has a greater thermal conductivity, and therefore is advantageous for heat removal from a heated object.However, the presence of NPs also increases the density, and more importantly, the viscosity, of a NF.As a result, more pumping energy is required to operate the cooling system when NFs are used.
