Like many filamentous ascomycetes, Fusarium grammearum genome contains two genes encoding the catalytic subunits of cAMP-dependent protein kinase A.In a previous study of systematic characterization of protein kinase genes in F.graminearum, the two predicted PKA catalytic subunits genes knockout mutants (CPK1 and CPK2) were generated by the split-marker approach.In this study,we further identified and characterized these two PKA catalytic subunits genes in F.graminearum.CPK1 is orthologous to TPK2 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and is orthologous to CPKA of M.oryzae.The cpkl mutant was significant reduced in vegetative growth and delayed conidium germination, and conidium morphology was normal but conidiation was reduced.
