Excessive apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) is an important factor of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) formation.Monocyte chemoattractant protein-l(MCP-l) plays an important role in the progress of AAA, which suggest that suppression of MCP-1 expression and excessive apoptosis in VSMCs may have great therapeutic potential for AAA.We conducted these experiments to examine the effect of A20 on MCP-1 expression and apoptosis in VSMCs and elucidated the related molecular mechanisms.
