Small diameter copper tubes(5 mm and even less)have been widely applied in refrigeration and air conditioning appliances due to low refrigerant charge and cost saving.However,the small diameter copper tubes make the flow paths in a heat exchanger much more complicated,and the refrigerant pressure drop may increase obviously.To quickly optimize a refrigeration or air conditioning appliance with small diameter copper tube,simulation tools with fast speed,high accuracy and versatility are needed.This paper presents simulation tools for design of refrigeration and air conditioning appliances,showing the models for components and systems,algorithms for solving the equations,and demonstration of simulation software.The graph-theory is applied for describing the flow paths in fin-and-tube heat exchangers and refrigeration cycles,having the capability to calculate flexible user defined refrigerant circuits.Application cases for design of fins,heat exchangers as well as room air conditioners are given,showing the effectiveness of the simulation tools.
