Psychological theories have verified that the effect between environmental space and human behavior is mutual.Based on the repertory grid method, this paper mainly focuses on the psychological evaluation and the architectural space analysis in Humanities and Social Sciences Library (HSL) of Tsinghua University. The author studies psychological applications in architecture, develops a questionnaire and completes the survey.Through statistical analysis of 26 questionnaires in computer, the author tries to draw further diagrams, reveals the relationship between variety of factors and diversity of different users and gives out possible guidelines in future design work.See from the result,we can conclude that architectural spaces in HSL have received a desirable assessment and were regarded as a better place to study in than other places in the campus. There was a commonly positive assessment towards the feeling of personal territory in HSL.That is because the individualized design of each space in HSL achieved success in providing privacy. The large scale of interior space also assure each one a clear boundary of territory, which may frequently be broken in a crowed environment. For the suggestion of future design and reconstruction, practices that considering sightline avoidance should be emphasized. The frosted glass panels which were used in HSL remained unsatisfied and could be replaced by architectural technique to solve problem of sightline disturbance.Convex lighting ceiling in the Library of Porto School of Architecture and long distance atrium in the Law Library of University of Zurich are such techniques that could be referenced as guidelines. There was also a generally negative assessment towards position sense in HSL.That suggests the future design should give consideration to people who learn a space by route memorizing and to people who learn by map memorizing.Different siguage that serve in different way would help solve the problem of getting lost in the architectural environment.
