TACE is one of the most well studied enzymes in the ADAM family, and has been found to be re-sponsible for the releasing of around 80 proteins from their membrane-bound forms, such as TNF-α, TGF-β, TNF receptor I, TNF receptor Ⅱ, interleukin-6 receptor, L-selectin, and Notch.But how TACE recognizes the cleavage sequence of these proteins remains an unsolved question.
