Zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4), very stable and insoluble in most acidic, alkaline and chelating media under mild conditions, is a major constituent of leaching residue of roasted zinc.Unfortunately, indium ion can enter into the crystal lattice of zinc ferrite through substituting iron ion to form indium-substituted zinc ferrite.The stability of zinc ferrite creates problems in zinc and indium recovery by hydrometallurgical processes, so it is important to dissolve zinc ferrite.
