Artemisinin, an endoperoxide-containing sesquiterpene isolated from A.annua L., an annual herb native to China, is becoming more and more popular in treating malaria.Nowadays, the toxin-free, artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) is recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) as the most effective against the drug-resistant malaria.
