The wild apple (Malussieversii) growing in the Xinjiang province of the P.R.China is assumed to be one of ancestors of the domestic apple (Malus domestica Borkh.).The Xinjiang wild apple is scattered through the region of Yili, in the middle and western parts of the Tianshanmountains and in the region of Tacheng, Artao Mountain.Over many centuries, the various different geographical populations developed naturally.
