Background To assess the efficacy and safety of the simultaneous treatment of ventricular septal defect (VSD) and other congenital cardiopathies using transcatheter procedures.Methods From 2002 to 2012,52 patients underwent transcatheter procedures for the simultaneous treatment of VSD and other congenital cardiopathies.Of the 52 patients,32 had VSD and atrial septal defects (ASD);17 had VSD and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA);1 had VSD,ASD,and PDA;and 2 had VSD and pulmonary stenosis.Percutaneous balloon pulmonary valvuloplasty (PBPV) was performed before the closure of VSD,PDA,or ASD.Electrocardiography (ECG) and transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) were performed before the procedure,within 1 week after the procedure,then 1,3,6,and 12 months,and every year thereafter.
