Objective To investigate the neuroprotective potential of rhEPO in premature rats with white matter damage. Methods Pregnant rats (gestational age 15 days) were intraperitoneal-injected of LPS (300 g/kg) to make cerebral white matter lesions.Another 10 cases of pregnant rats were intraperitoneal injectioned with saline (1ml/kg) as control. All preterm rats born by caesarean section at embryonic day 21st.According to the different processing method, the preterm rats were randomly divided into LPS+rhEPO group (n=18), LPS+NS group (n=18), NS+rhEPO group (n=18) and NS+NS group (n=18) and were respectively intraperitoneal injected of rhEPO (5000IU/kg) or saline 1ml/kg immediately after birth. The cerebral white matter injury were evaluated with HE and levels of CD68, GFAP, MBP were detected with immunofluorescence 3 and 7 days after birth.Assessments of nerve behavior were taken 2 weeks after birth.
