As a natural biomacromolecule, keratin has good bioactivity, biocompatibility, biodegradation, mechanical property, and natural abundance.The goals of our work are listed as follows: (1) keratin based drug carrier.We aim to prepare chlorhexidine acetate(CAR)-keratin nanoparticles according to electrostatic attraction.The volume ratio of CAR and keratin for preparing stable nanoparticles were explored.A series of performance characterizations and preliminary in vitro drug release of the drug loaded nanoparticles were also tested.(2) Kerain based biomedical dressing.We aim to prepare polyurethane/keratin/silver nanoparticles biocomposite mats using electrospinning method.The mats are biodegradable, biocompatible and antibacterial, which are potential for wound recovery.
