The syntheses of the mono-adduets of 1,10-phenanthroline with SbX3(X=F,Cl,Br) and PhSbI2 have been reported[1].But the crystal structure of such compounds is still rather scarce. As a continuation of our interest in the structure of such compounds,we report a new antimony complex with nitrogen-containing ligand 1,10-phenanthroline,which has been synthesized in CH3CH2OH by the reaction of antimony tribromide with 1,10-phenanthroline in 1:1 stoichiometry. The complex was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, elementary analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal system is triclinic, space group P-l,with a =8.602(4) (A),b =8.702(4) (A),c =10.002(5) (A),a=83.271(6)°,β=73.192(5)°,y =76.441(5)°,V=695.7(6)(A)3,2=2,Dcalc=2.586 Mg/m3,F(000)=500,R1 =0.0471,wR2 =0.1239.The central antimony atom is five-coordinated with a distorted tetragonal pyramidal geometry and N1 occupies the apex site. The supramolecular structure of this complex has been found to consist of two-dimensional network built up by intermolecular C-H…Br weak hydrogen bonds.
