Objective:To analyze changing trends in cardiac surgery and perfusion technology in India and at our institute.Background:Though all types of cardiac surgeries were being done in India,advancement in perfusion technology has enabled us to do more complex and sophisticated surgeries with better results.Discussion:With introduction of disposable bubble oxygenator,cardiac surgery became widely available across the country and availability of various newer generation membrane oxygenators made extra corporeal circulation safer and hence cardiac surgery grew more rapidly.
