An NADPH-dependent carbonyl reductase (PsCR) gene from Pichia stipitis was cloned.The PsCR exhibited a high activity using ethyl 4-chloro-3-oxobutanoate (COBE) as a substrate.In this investigation, fermentation ofE.coli BL21 (DE3)with pET-22b-PsCR using cane molasses as a low cost carbon source was developed.This recombinant strata effectively used cane molasses as carbon and energy substrate for growth.
