Cyclic di-GMP (c-di-GMP), a ubiquitous bacterial second messenger that regulates diverse virulence-related phenotypes in pathogenic bacteria, is synthesized by diguanylate cyclase (DGC)with the GGDEF domain.About 22 GGDEF-domain protein genes have been shown within the genome of Xanthomonas oryzae pv.oryzae (Xoo) wildtype strain PXO99A, the causal agent of bacterial leaf blight of rice.
