As an exotic state of quantum matter, topological insulators[1] with insulating bulk gap and metallic Dirac surface states have received extensive attention in recent years.Due to the topologically protected and spin-momentum-locked massless Dirac-type surface states, topological insulator nanostructures with large surface-to-volume ratios and unique quasi-2D geometry have been theoretically predicted to be promising candidates for high performance optoelectronic devices.[2]
