Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is an important REM sleep parasomnia commonly seen in elderly men.Characteristic features of RBD include intermittent loss of REM-related muscle atonia and the appearance of a variety of abnormal motor activities during sleep.The patient presents a violent, dream-enacting behavior during REM sleep, often causing self-injury or injury to the patients bed partner.
