There are two major rare earth enrichment areas in Afghanistan. One is the Nuristan pegmatite deposits of the Jamanak Pasgushta and Pachigram pegmatites in the Barong area, mainly composed of rare earth elements, lithium, tin and micas, with abundant tantalum and niobium resources. One is Khanneshin carbonate rocks, and the United States and Afghanistan do a lot of subdivision geological surveys. Carbonate rocks are rich in rare earths, uranium and phosphate deposits, and are also associated with thorium, barium, strontium and limestone, and are thought to have huge RE prospects and uranium deposits
