Background: Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are bone marrow-derived immature heterogeneous myeloid cells and they are morphologically divided into two distinct subsets: monocytic (M) and granulocytic (G) MDSCs.MDSCs have been shown to suppress T cell responses and contribute to the tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment.In contrast, mouse studies have shown that MDSCs may contribute to autoimmune pathogenesis.However, the role of MDSCs in the pathogenesis of human autoimmune diseases remains relatively poorly understood.
