  Fractal features of porous media have been the focus of petrophysical studies for several decades because they provide an effective way to describe the complexity of pore structure.To understand the effects of grain size,grain-size variety,grain-size contrast,and compaction coefficient on the fractal dimension(FD)of porous media,we employ the process-based modelling method for model construction and box-counting method for the FD computation of pore structure.Firstly,digital rock models are constructed to simulate various porous media(e.g.,sandstones)by the process-based modelling technique.Secondly,the fractal dimension of pore structure is calculated by the box-counting method based on the images of those digital rock models.Finally,our simulations indicate(1)the FD increases with increasing grain-size variety and grain-size contrast,and decreases with increasing grain size and compaction coefficient;(2)the porosity decreases with increasing grain-size variety and compaction coefficient.
