The reception performance of terrestrial digital television is significantly degraded in severe multipath environments in VSB(vestigial side band) system.Digital television signals from broadcaster suffer from various characteristics of channel condition. These channel effects are dynamic muhipath from moving things,Doppler effects caused by moving receiver,various fading effects etc.General beamforming techniques maximize transmission efficiency for a given bandwidth due to the usage of several antenna elements and minimize received signal error due to the cancellation of multipath signals.Especially,the reception degradation of VSB receiver is more severe in multipath channel similar to Rayleigh fading.We propose a joint operation of beamformer and equalizer for VSB receiver and analyze DTV reception performance in typical digital television multipath channel conditions.
