Recent studies in SNCA hypomethylation and its subsequent regulation on α‐synuclein expression suggest an importance of DNA methylation in Parkinsons disease(PD).In accordance, decreased expression of DNA methyltransferase 1(DNMT1)was detected in postmortem brains of PD patients, suggesting DNMT1 may be the key mediator for the dysregulation of DNA methylation in PD.
