Nutrition is being translated as "YingYang" in Chinese, which is composed by two separated words "Ying" and "Yang".There is a significant difference between the two concepts.Nutrition in the western medicine and current life science mainly refers to the process that foods or nutrients are being digested and absorbed by human body and the physiological function of nutrients. The amount of nutrients is used as parameters to elucidate nutrition quality. However,in Chinese culture, especially in Traditional Chinese Medicine,"Ying" means the clean and light Qi (energy) floating inside the blood vessels. The classic book of Ling Shu described that "Ying" comes from the essence of digested foods, being transported from ZhongJiao, and it spreads to the whole body following the route of channel (meridian)-collateral system.
