Eco-environmental degradation has growing a pressing concern in the post-economic reform era in China. The socio-economic costs are unprecedentedly high that the government has summoned to fight it back.Accordingly, integrated river basin management programs have been launched in over dominant parts of the territory which the Shiyang river basin is part of them.Despite the significant investment allocated in its restoration, welfare benefit assessment from the intended revolution is lacking. Thus, this paper was devoted to quantify the social benefit of the program, identify the priority of the public, and understand potential spatial and preference heterogeneity related with different eco-environmental restoration path ways.Based on Choice experiment (CE)survey study, the results showed that the Shiyang River basin residents significantly positive preference to the restoration program against the status quo. Moreover, they expressed high willingness to pay for all the restoration attributes except for tourism function.Despite the revealed taste related preference heterogeneity among residents,we did not find any evidence of spatial heterogeneity for most of the attributes.Based on the results,we conclude that the basins residents are more interest on the restoration program no matter wherever every the action is taken within the basin.
