Thus far, pelvic-floor topography was studied by dissection,which is artifact-prone, or MRI, which requires prior anatomical knowledge.Method: The anal-sphincter complex (ASC) was mapped in 4 females and 2 males (21-35y) of the Chinese Visible Human database.Results: Using tendinous septa and muscle-fiber orientation as segmentation guides,the ASC comprised the subcutaneous external anal sphincter (EAS) and U-shaped puborectal muscle, a part of the levator ani muscle (LAM).
