Objective: Condylectomy was used to treat patients with condylar osteoma or hyperplasia.Two surgical techniques to do the condylectomy via intraoral approach were introduced and their clinical results and advantages were discussed in this paper.Patients and Methods: 53 patients, age ranged from 22 to 57, who had the indications for condylectomy were included in this study.27 patients were condyle osteoma, 26 patients were hemimandibular hyperplasia and condylar hyperplasia.All patients were treated by condylectomy via intraoral approach.Condylectomy via intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy (IVRO) was used to treat 32 patients, and intraoral condylectomy via coronoid process resection was used in 21 patients.For patients with malocclusion or severe facial asymmetry, orthognathic surgical procedure and orthodontic therapy were added in the treatment protocol.
