A strategically designed and synthesized cationic surfactant,4-ethoxy-4-(trimethylaminoethoxy) azobenzene trichloromonobromoferrate (azoTAFe) was promoted to interact with DNA to probe potential applications in solving the main hot challenges in gene transfection of realizing effectively targeted, controllable DNA delivery as well as economizing delivery agents.Due to the endowed light-responsive properties from azobenzene group and paramagnetism from counterion [FeCl3Br]-,inexhaustible clear sources light and weak magnetic field can be abundantly utilized to ensure an unprecedented dual-switchable capture and release of DNA regulated only with single surfactant.
